Menopause Resource Series – Post 6: Exploring Your Support Options
One of the most important things I want every woman to know about menopause is this:
You have options.
There is no one right way to move through this transition—only the way that feels aligned for you.
We live in a time where more information and support is available than ever before, but that can also be overwhelming. So let’s take a calm, balanced look at what’s out there.
🌿 Medical Support
For many women, working with a menopause-informed GP can be life-changing. If your symptoms are impacting your daily life, it’s worth exploring:
💊 Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT or HRT)
This involves replacing the oestrogen and sometimes progesterone that your body is no longer producing at the same levels. Today’s HRT options are much safer and more customisable than they were in the past.
HRT may support:
Hot flushes and night sweats
Sleep disturbances
Low mood or anxiety
Vaginal and bladder changes
Bone and heart health (in some cases)
It’s not suitable for everyone, but for many women, it can significantly improve quality of life.
🌸 Complementary & Holistic Therapies
Many women also find relief and support from more natural, body-and-soul-based approaches:
Acupuncture
Herbal medicine
Naturopathy
Massage or bodywork
Yoga and breathwork
Mindfulness and meditation
These modalities don’t aim to “cure” menopause but to support the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—through the transition.
🫶 Emotional & Psychological Support
Menopause is not just physical—it often stirs up deeper emotional shifts. You might be re-evaluating your life, your relationships, even your sense of identity.
Support might look like:
Counselling or therapy
Coaching focused on life transitions or purpose
Women's circles or peer support groups
Journalling, creative expression, or rituals for letting go and moving forward
This is where holistic counselling can be so powerful: it honours the full experience of menopause—not just the symptoms.
💛 You Get to Choose
Every woman deserves informed, individualised care. Whether you choose HRT, herbal remedies, counselling, or a blend of everything—what matters is that you feel supported, respected, and empowered in your choices.
You are the expert of your own body. My role, as a menopause coach and holistic counsellor, is to walk beside you and offer guidance, clarity, and compassion as you navigate your unique path.
In the next post, we’ll explore the opportunities and empowerment this stage of life can bring—because menopause isn’t just an ending, it’s a powerful new beginning.
With warmth,
